Publishing history · Prime Public Media
Prime Public Media AG (PPM) in Zürich publishes 16 medical journals for physicians in Switzerland. Eleven of them have a publishing history documented in the Swiss National Library catalogue, among them Hausarzt Praxis, Cardiovasc and InFo Neurologie & Psychiatrie. The earliest documented root goes back to 1990: in October 1990 the first issue of Geriatrie-Praxis appeared, from which Hausarzt Praxis emerged in 2006; in the same year Hautnah Dermatologie started, the predecessor of Dermatologie Praxis. PPM owns and continues the titles of the former Swiss Springer medical list, which came to PPM on 1 October 2012 by way of MMV Basel, Springer Medizin Verlag Schweiz and Medien & Medizin Verlag Zürich. The Swiss National Library catalogues each of these titles as one continuing journal across all publishers, with unbroken volume numbering.

The dark blue bar shows Springer, founded in Berlin in 1842, today Springer Medizin in Germany. The squares on the bar mark stages of the publishing heritage, the circles the points where a Swiss title is linked to Springer. Click either to open the details. Dotted lines connect Swiss titles to Springer where the catalogue documents a link: as a title of the Swiss Springer unit (2002 to 2009) or as the Swiss edition of a German Springer journal. The orange lines above the bar show the German parallel titles: dashed up to the start of the Swiss edition, then as a thin line for as long as Springer continues the title in parallel. The coloured bands show the company history. The dots on the title lines show the details in each title's catalogue record; the catalogues date some changes of publisher slightly differently from title to title.

Sources and method
All details on this page come from catalogue records of the Swiss National Library (Helveticat) and the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB, the German union catalogue of serials), and from dated articles in the trade press.
The homepage lists 16 specialist journals: all current periodicals of Prime Public Media. This page shows the eleven titles whose origin the National Library catalogue records as a continuing journal. The annual themed specials are not counted.
The basis is the catalogue records of the Swiss National Library. The library keeps each journal as one record across all publishers and names the publishers, with dates, in the «Publikation» field [publication], for example «2007-Juli 2009: Zürich : Springer Medizin Verlag Schweiz AG» [2007 to July 2009: Zürich: Springer Medizin Verlag Schweiz AG]. This page reproduces these entries word for word. Angle brackets such as «<2010->» mean that the catalogue infers the year from the issue in hand.
Predecessors, successors, splits and parallel editions come from the links in the catalogue («Fortsetzung von» [continues], «Gesplittet in» [split into], «In Beziehung stehend» [related]). The ZDB serials database is the second source for German parallel editions and predecessor titles. For the first year of publication the ZDB often gives today's publisher, so the dated entries of the Swiss National Library decide who published a title and when.
The company history from 2009 to 2012 (management buyout, takeover by Prime Public Media) is based on dated articles in the trade journal m&k markt & kommunikation. The catalogues date some changes of publisher differently for each title, for example the move to Prime Public Media between October 2012 and April 2013; the page always shows the catalogue's date. Research as of 20 October 2026.
The «Verlagserbe» line [publishing heritage] shows the history of the Springer group, within which the Swiss titles were published until 2009. The years before 1990 are compressed on the time axis. These years describe the publishing list, not the founding year of a Prime Public Media title; Der Nervenarzt (1928) appears there as a title of the Springer Medizin neurology list, to which the German partner edition of InFo Neurologie & Psychiatrie belongs.
